The Tonle Sap Experience started in 2017 with one idea: the floating villages should be shown by the people who live in them, at the price the community sets, with nothing added on. Today we run daily small-group tours and private days to every major village on the lake, and we are the largest provider of lake and floating village experiences in Cambodia.
We are not a desk in town that sends you off with a driver. We are a team: guides, drivers and boat crews from the villages themselves, working together so that the person who meets you at your hotel and the person who steers the boat are on the same side.

We have people on the ground in all four Siem Reap floating villages and in the two big villages on the far side of the lake. That is how we know which channel the boats are using this week, when the canoes stop running, and who to call when a guest leaves a phone on the boat.

Community boats,
community price.
Every boat ticket is bought from the village cooperative at the official price and goes to the boat crews and the commune. We make no stops at schools or orphanages, we don't sell rice "for the village", there are no souvenir barges, and nobody on our team takes a commission from anyone you buy from.
Our guides are trained in child protection. We ask guests not to give money or sweets to children, not to photograph children close up, and to ask before photographing anyone at home. The villages are places people live.
