Both are east of town on the same roads, and both are places most visitors never reach. Beng Mealea is Angkor as the explorers found it, roots through the galleries and no crowds. Kompong Khleang is the biggest village on the lake, an hour further, with two houseboat communities and sunset on the open water.

Good to know
Is the Beng Mealea ticket included?
Beng Mealea is now on the Angkor pass, so a one-day pass (USD 37) covers it. If you already have a pass from another day, check it is still valid.
How far is it?
Beng Mealea is about 65 km east of Siem Reap, an hour and a half by car. Kompong Khleang is an hour back towards town, so the day is a loop with no doubling back.
How long is the day?
About 10 hours door to door, from an 8 am pickup to drop-off after sunset.
Can we add the flooded forest canoe?
Yes, from July to January. Open the day in the builder and switch it on.
